about the choir
The Choir was formed in 1984 and has a wide range of singing skills but most importantly everyone loves singing!
At least twice a year the Choir holds a concert in Budleigh and, over the years, has raised thousands of pounds for local charities.
Our musical director is Nicky Perry has been directing musicals and choirs on and off since she was in her 30’s: St David’s Players (Gilbert & Sullivan Society) in Exeter, Youth groups Quest in Exeter and Centre Stage in Exmouth, Clyst Valley Choral Society and both Exeter and Exmouth Operatic Societies.
She began accompanying groups and individuals on the piano while still at school and has continued to do so, alongside her teaching of both piano and flute. She joined BSLC as the pianist in 2013, and took over from Daphne Harlock as Musical Director in 2015.
Mark Perry is the choir accompanist. He has accompanied singers in choral groups since his school days and has played for BSLC since the end of 2015. He has directed a local chamber choir (St David's Singers) since 1994 and was the Director of Music at Crediton Parish Church from 2015 to 2020.
